MSA was represented in the Student Leadership Luncheon with the Executive Council of Florida Tech

MSA's President Brother Fawzi Alghamdi represented The Muslim Student Association in the Student Leadership Luncheon with the Executive Council of Florida Tech which was held on Thursday, November 06, 2008. President Catanese and members of Florida Tech's Executive Council met with student leaders for more than one hour and answered many of their questions and concerns. Brother Fawzi raised the issue of limited funding to many student organizations compared to some well funded student organizations and the unequal opportunity in the current Student Leadership Awards system.
Brother Fawzi's input was: "There are three or four organizations that receive special funding from the school .. not that I have anything against those organizations .. I am aware of what some of those organizations do and I commend their work. However, there are other very active organizations on campus that need access to more funds. Would the school consider adding some of those very active organizations to the special funded groups or at least create a sub-group that would allow more funding to the very active organizations? The second part of my question is in regards to the Student Leadership Awards. Under the current system, the special funded organizations compete for the same awards that all other organizations compete for which creates an unequal opportunity for the less funded organizations. As a matter of fact, there is one award that is specifically designed for the special funded groups which is "Outstanding Student Activity with a Budget of more than $5000." Please review the current system and modify it as needed so that the opportunity is equal for all. Thank You!" Read more

The Muslim Student Association presented its Eid Alfitr Gift to the Muslim Community in the form of a magnet that contained a verse from the Holy Quran and two Hadeeths (records and sayings of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)).

5500 magnets were distributed to members of the Muslim communities in Florida (Melbourne, Orlando, Daytona Beach, West Palm Beach, Merritt Island, Ft. Pierce), D.C. (Washington), Arkansas (Little Rock), Massachusetts (Boston), California (Hayward), Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh), West Virginia (Huntington), Michigan (Oak Park), New Jersey (Garfield), Ohio (Cleveland), Arizona (Glendale), Georgia (Atlanta), Illinois (Chicago), Virginia (Vienna),  Maine (Brewer), Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan, Saudi Arabia (Riyadh, Jeddah, Taif), and United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi); and more will be sent out soon in sha'a ALLAH.

Brother Fahad Alowaini jazah ALLAH khair generated the beautiful magnet design.
The Quranic verse reminds the Muslim of ALLAH's (swt) mercy and forgiveness of sins when the Muslim repents to Him and sincerely asks ALLAH (swt) for forgiveness.
The first Hadeeth reminds the Muslim that if he/she continuously ask ALLAH (swt) for forgiveness, then ALLAH (swt) will appoint him/her a way out of distress and trouble and will provide for him/her from ways he/she did not anticipate. Read more
